Hi there,
My journey into the world of health and well-being has been anything but conventional. I was blessed with the opportunity to see the world in a unique way that is not afforded to most who take a more conventional path. In my late teens/ early 20’s I was drinking most days of the week, smoking, using and selling drugs, playing too many video games, watching porn and endless TV shows as a coping mechanism to distract myself from myself. I was arrested at 22 years old and this was the catalyst that led to a moment of clarity, and led me to ask the question “what does it mean to be healthy?” This question allowed me to embark on a journey of self discovery that I am still on to this day. At what I first thought of as a curse, turned out to be a great blessing, a lesson that I’ve been able to apply elsewhere in my life and help others to see the beauty in their own struggles and shifting the perspective around challenges as opportunities for growth. I’ve found ways of being that work for me and I am under no delusion that it will work for you, but I’ve found a passion in helping others discover what works for them in their unique circumstances. I am willing to walk beside you to help you uncover the potential that you have within.
Looking forward to knowing you, your story and the life that you would love to create.
-Jon

What is a CHEK Practioner?
The system we utilize at BLNC comes from CHEK institute, formed by Paul Chek (seen right), a world-renowned expert in the fields of Corrective and High performance Exercise Kinesiology, stress management and holistic wellness, helping countless athletes from Olympians to high performing business people. Our unique and integrative methods are truly holistic, viewing the body as a system of systems – a fully integrated unit where we consider physical, hormonal, mental, emotional and spiritual components to coach our clients towards a more connected experience of being.
The 1-2-3-4 CHEK Approach
CHEK Practitioners use a variety of assessments to identify health concerns and imbalances in their clients. These assessments are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Some common assessments used by CHEK Practitioners include:
Postural Analysis: Examining the alignment of the body in both static and dynamic positions to identify any imbalances or asymmetries.
Movement Analysis: Observing the client’s movement patterns to assess the quality of their functional movements and identify any restrictions or dysfunctions.
Core Function Assessment: Evaluating the strength, stability, and coordination of the core muscles, which play a crucial role in overall movement and well-being.
Orthopedic Assessments: Assessing joint mobility, muscle flexibility, and any specific orthopedic concerns to identify potential issues affecting the musculoskeletal system.
Nutritional Assessment: Analyzing dietary habits, nutritional deficiencies, and potential food sensitivities to create personalized nutrition plans.
Stress and Lifestyle Assessment: Evaluating stress levels, sleep patterns, and lifestyle factors that may contribute to overall health and well-being via excess allostatic load.
Hormonal and Metabolic Assessments: Identifying hormonal imbalances and metabolic issues through various tests to understand their impact on health.
Biochemical Individuality Assessment: Recognizing that individuals have unique biochemical needs and responses to nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle factors.
Mind-Body Connection Assessment: Considering the emotional and psychological aspects of health, including stress management, mindset, and emotional well-being.
By combining information from these assessments, CHEK Practitioners aim to create a holistic and personalized program that addresses the specific needs and imbalances of each individual. This approach allows for a more comprehensive understanding of health and wellness, going beyond just physical exercise to encompass various aspects of a person’s life.
